App Support

Little Bookshelf

Help for setting up a child's bookshelf, syncing across devices, sharing with family, and managing premium features.

  • How do I get help?

Email littlebookshelf@benwiddowson.com. Include the device you are using, what you were trying to do, and any error message shown in the app.

  • How does family sharing work?

The household owner can create an invite link and send it to family members. New invite links are designed for family chats and can be used by more than one person, but they expire after 24 hours. If a link stops working, create a fresh invite from the app.

  • Why does the app ask me to sign in with Apple?

Sign in with Apple is used for cloud sync, household membership, invite links, and premium entitlement checks. It lets the service know which bookshelf data belongs to you without adding a separate password.

  • What data syncs to the cloud?

If cloud sync is enabled, Little Bookshelf stores bookshelf names, book details, gift giver names, notes, cover images, avatar images, household membership, invite records, and premium entitlement records. Local app settings such as the selected theme stay on your device.

  • Can other people see my bookshelf?

Only people with access through your household or a public share link can see shared bookshelf content. Public shelf pages show share-safe bookshelf and book details, and do not expose Apple Sign-In user identifiers.

  • Why does the app ask for camera or photo access?

Camera access is used for scanning ISBN barcodes and taking book cover photos. Photo library access is used when you choose an existing cover image or avatar image.

  • How do I restore premium access?

Open the premium area in the app and use Restore Purchases. The app asks Apple for verified StoreKit transactions and sends the signed transaction data to the Little Bookshelf server for validation. Auto-renewable subscriptions can be managed or cancelled in your App Store account settings.

  • Where can I read the Terms of Use?

Little Bookshelf uses Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA). You can read it here: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

  • How do I delete my data?

You can remove books, gift givers, and households from inside the app. Signed-in users can delete their Little Bookshelf cloud account from Manage > Account. Account deletion removes the signed-in user's backend account, owned shared libraries, invite links, memberships, purchase entitlement records, and synced backend images, then signs the device out. For privacy or support help, email littlebookshelf@benwiddowson.com.

Privacy and security

Little Bookshelf uses Sign in with Apple for account identity, stores synced data in Cloudflare services, verifies premium purchases with Apple-signed StoreKit transactions, supports in-app cloud account deletion from Manage > Account, and expires new invite links after 24 hours. Read the privacy policy for the full data handling summary.
